Corrosion or depression of 548 nuclear waste containers in Fukushima: repaired with adhesive tape

After inspecting the containers used to store nuclear waste at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, 548 of them were found to be corroded or sunken, Tokyo Electric Power said Monday. Dongdian has repaired and strengthened the container with fiberglass tape.

According to the Japan Broadcasting Association 1 reported that in March, Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station memory nuclear waste container has leaked, the incident area also found a larger amount of gelatinous objects. Since April 15, Dongdian began to inspect 5338 containers of nuclear waste with the same pollution level. As of June 30, Dongdian has completed the inspection of 3467 containers, and found that 272 containers were corroded and 276 containers were sunken.

Dongdian said that one of the containers had leaked, and sewage containing radioactive substances flowed out and accumulated around the container. Dongdian cleaned and wiped it with water absorbing pads. Dongdian used glass fiber tape to repair and strengthen other containers.
